Compress Image

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP images while keeping them looking good.

How to compress an image

Upload an image, pick an output format and quality, optionally cap the width, then compress. You'll see the before and after size.

Which format is smallest?

WebP and AVIF are usually much smaller than JPG at the same quality. Use JPG or WebP for photos, and PNG only when you need lossless output or transparency.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device, so your files never leave your computer and there is no file-size limit imposed by a server. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory.

What quality should I use?

70–80% is the sweet spot for most photos: files shrink dramatically with little visible loss.

Why did my PNG get bigger?

PNG is lossless and has no quality setting here. Convert photos to WebP or JPG for big savings.
